Christmas 2026 is shaping up to be a legendary year for annual leave hacks. Because of how the bank holidays fall, you can get a massive amount of time off for very little investment.
The Strategy
Book these four days:
- Monday, Dec 21
- Tuesday, Dec 22
- Wednesday, Dec 23
- Thursday, Dec 24
Why it works
- Weekend 1: Dec 19-20 (Sat-Sun)
- Leave: Dec 21-24 (Mon-Thu)
- Christmas Day: Dec 25 (Fri)
- Weekend 2: Dec 26-27 (Sat-Sun)
- Boxing Day Sub: Dec 28 (Mon)
Total: 10 days off.
Pro Tip
If you have extra leave to burn, you can also book Dec 29, 30, and 31. This would extend your break all the way through New Year's Day (Friday, Jan 1, 2027) and the following weekend.
That would be 16 days off for just 7 days of leave.
